Hi there everyone!

For those of you that don't know me, my name is Ula! Along with the other members of the Saligia, I am creating my first blog and now my first blog entry. :)

Now some of you might be asking why the seven of us have now come up with these blogs. Well, the story is quite long to tell, but in a gist: M (who is a very good friend of ours that bought "The Saligia" to life) has asked us to start these entries. We agreed because she's been very good to us designing our clothes and giving us the Sin Sanctum to live in. Because of that we had agreed to be her models and now, we're doing this for her as well. :)

With that in mind, Welcome to Ula's Room! As you may already have guessed, I specialize in talking about food. :D I may not be any expert on the subject matter. I'm not a chef and I'm certainly no critic, but I love food just the same and that's why I'll be writing about it! :D

As much as I possibly can within a month, I will be updating this blog with all of the fun and delicious adventures I take. I'll try my best to take pictures of the things I eat and find yummy so that you will also know how it looks like in case you'd want to try it out as well. :D

And who knows, maybe one of these days I will even show you the things that I cook here in the Sanctum. The others might not necessarily think that I'm a good chef, but they eat my cooking all the same which makes me love them even more!

So let's go ahead and talk about my first Foodie Goodie! :D

During M's last few visits to the Sanctum, she brought these with her!

MELONA FLAVORED ICE BAR
(or Melona, for short
a.k.a. Korean Ice Cream)

M simply calls it Korean Ice Cream or Melona. It's created by Binggrae from Korea.

It is not exactly a popsicle stick, more like fruity ice cream on popsicle sticks. Melona comes in a variety of flavors with Melon, Mango, Strawberry and Banana to name a few.

This concept of fruit flavored ice cream isn't new, but for some reason, it seems to be steadily growing popularity in the country. I've only tasted it a handful of times myself (and I insist to Xuria and Vidia that it is
not an understatement) but I can really say that what, for me, stands out about Melona is its accuracy to the real taste of the fruit flavor!

Okay! I'll admit it, I didn't only have just a handful of Melona bars. But I have a reason! It was because I was trying out the other flavors! I have yet to try out what I believe is Kiwi or Mango but the rest just taste heavenly. Not only is it the taste of my favorite fruit (bananas!) but it is a perfect way of beating the heat when it's needed the most! :D

It's quite affordable too. For those in the Philippines, the bars just cause Php30 and is well worth your money!

Keeping on the topic of the yummy yumminess of Korean Ice Cream, there is also my personal favorite: Binggrae's Samanco

SAMANCO ICE CREAM SANDWICH
(a.k.a. The Fish Ice Cream)

It's basically an ice cream sandwich that has a layer of red bean paste with it, and the entire thing is wrapped the cutest fish shape! :D The concept for the shape and the snack itself is based of a popular snack in Korea called Bungeoppang (which I've also tasted and loved by the way!)

In terms of fullness (meaning if it fills you up and leaves you happy and satisfied) it's an easy five star rating for me! I will not promote unhealthy eating habits, but the truth is, when I first tried Samanco from M, I couldn't stop craving for it and would substitute my meals for this!

But I have learned to discipline myself, so please don't do what I did. It is not healthy and it will only leave you disappointed after wards (because of the weight you could put on)!

So there you have it! I've definitely learned to love these ice cream treats because their taste in general is interesting and new to me! I'm sure that we've all tried our fair share of vanilla, chocolate, strawberry and the like but trust me when I say that these are totally the best.

They're so popular apparently in M's school because not a day goes buy without someone buying these things. What more so in the heat? Well, that's why Binggrae has come! :D

Well, that's all for now, I do hope you enjoyed this first post! Oooooh! If you've tried Melona, let me know if you liked it or not? What flavor did you enjoy the most? What about the Samanco?

ALSO! :D If there are any snacks that you'd like to recommend, let me know so I can try it and maybe I'll even write a rave or rant about it here! :D

Take care, all!!! :)
